Surrealist Painters and The Imaginary World – WK 1 1:30PM June 15 – June 19 | 1:30PM – 4:30PM Cain Center for the Arts | Room 115 Age: 7-12 Price: $200 Instructor: Maria Roca Camp Description: The surrealist art movement sought to interpret the world from the unique artist perspective that translated into dream-like images coming out of pure imagination. In this camp, participants will learn -through video documentaries- about the works of some of the most remarkable surrealist painters such as Salvador Dali, Magritte and Frida Kahlo after which they will design and paint their own masterpieces. ***Cornelius Residents will use RESCODE for Cornelius Resident price in the shopping cart.***
Bridge Lunch WK 1
Parents must register their child for the Bridge Lunch during the camp registration process. The child must be registered for a morning, and afternoon camp on the same day, in the same week. Cain Center for the Arts will not provide lunch for Bridge Lunch campers. Campers are required to bring their own lunch. Lunch will not be provided. No drop-ins will be allowed. Parents will be charged a fee of $15 on top of the $60 fee registration fee. Parents who fail to register their students may result in their student being removed from the camp with no refund. Discounts are not available for Bridge Lunch.

Campers start the week with air dry clay teacups, turtles, and small trinket containers. Campers end the week building miniature dragons, buildings, landscapes, portraits, and more using colorful Polymer Clay. A personal electric tuner will be helpful. Let’s learn cool rhythms, strumming patterns, and a variety of different songs together! We will work out how to hold, play, tune, and practice the Ukulele. While focusing on different landscapes each day, the kids will learn the steps of completing a piece of artwork. Starting with inspiration and the composition, to which colors and brushes we should use, they will get a real idea of the artist’s process. We will end the week with an abstract version on the child’s home or favorite place. Campers begin by sketching familiar Pokémon for inspiration, then transition into designing original creatures by combining features from their favorite characters within a chosen elemental type. Throughout the week, students create a set of custom creature cards on pre-printed templates, building a personal deck that showcases their new designs. Beautiful Color in Your PaintingsCain Center for the Arts: Classroom 115 Feb. 24 – March 31, 2026 Price: $175.00 Tuesdays, 2:00pm-4:00pm Instructor: Kathy Murray Course Description: Learn practical fun techniques to mix the colors you want! Create harmonious colors that look great with each other, create exciting colors that sing, learn and create great color schemes that will make a painting work, create dark and light values of colors for impact, and create opaque and transparent paint colors for variety and excitement in your painting. After mixing the colors, you will learn how to combine them in simple paintings or studies. In each class the teacher will have a lesson/demo and then help each student with color mixing and their projects. This class is for beginners or more advanced students. Acrylic paint will be used for the demos, but you may use other types if you are experienced in them.
