HINDS’ FEET FARM MURAL

Our Story

Hinds’ Feet Farm is a partner and neighbor of Cain Center for the Arts. This year Cain Center for the Arts and Hinds’ Feet Farm will collaborate on a mural to happen on Hinds’ Feet Farms property. This mural will be a joined effort of both organizations to lighten, and inspire the facility, staff, and residents of Hinds’ Feet Farm every day.

The mural will be based off work that residents (Participants) have created in class  Davidson College with Professor Tyler Starr. The mural is reminiscent of a “Barn Quilt” that will be displayed on finished wood hung on one of the Hinds’ Feet Farm buildings.

This mural is in partnership with Hinds’ Feet Farm. Cain Center for the Arts and Hinds’ Feet Farm began our partnership in 2023 debuting a first ever public exhibition of artwork created at Davidson College by HFF participants. The participants had a wonderful time, and were excited to be first time exhibiting artists, with 16 pieces in their exhibition being sold. As the two organizations ended the exhibition, the decision was made that a partnership was clearly the next step.

Ryan Finley is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in large-scale murals and custom fine art for commercial and community spaces. Her work focuses on creating welcoming, story-rich environments that feel timeless, approachable, and site-specific. Her mural work has been commissioned by clients across South Carolina, including Prisma Health, Hyatt Resorts, and Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach. Whether a corporate client or the inside of a home, her her goal is to create artwork that enhances space, supports well-being, and reflects the identity of each location with professionalism and care. Working primarily in custom projects, Ryan values collaboration and relationship-building as much as the finished piece itself.

“This mural uses a quilt pattern as a “frame” around a central brain illustration. From a distance, the image may read as a tree or winding vines—symbols of growth and connection—but a closer look reveals the form of the brain and its branching nerves, honoring the resilient minds of those at Hind’s Feet Farm. Surrounding the center are figures holding hands, flowers, and donkeys—visual references to the Farm’s natural beauty, equine therapy, and deep sense of community. Inspired by classic color palettes and vintage aesthetics, this piece is meant to feel warm and timeless. It is my prayer that it brings light and comfort to all who pass through Hind’s Feet Farm for years to come.”
