Whether you’re planning a unique date night, a fun outing with friends, or a little self-care time, join us for this beginner-friendly ceramic heart plate decorating workshop. In this special 2-hour workshop, you’ll decorate a heart-shaped ceramic plate using a variety of colors, patterns, and design techniques. An instructor will guide you through the process and share tips to help bring your vision to life. Create a personalized piece for yourself, a loved one, or a one-of-a-kind Valentine’s Day gift. No experience is needed, just bring a creative open mind and a willingness to have fun. Come on your own, with a partner, family, or friends. Each participant must purchase a ticket. During the workshop you will paint and decorate your vase with a selection of colorful glazes. No supplies are needed for the workshop. Whether you’re looking to try a new creative hobby, spend time with friends, or enjoy a relaxing afternoon, this workshop is the perfect way to welcome the season. In this 2-hour workshop, an instructor will guide you through the process of creating your own ceramic berry basket using clay slabs. You’ll learn basic hand-building techniques as you construct a functional berry basket perfect for rinsing and serving fresh strawberries, blueberries, and other seasonal favorites. Add your own creative touches with decorative textures, patterns, and spring-inspired details to make your basket uniquely yours. No experience is needed, just bring a creative open mind and a willingness to learn something new. Come on your own, with family or friends, or make it a fun springtime outing! Each participant must purchase a ticket. Watercolor All Levels
Watercolor All Levels Age: 17+ Day: Thursday Dates: January 14 – February 18, 2027 Time: 1:00PM-3:30PM Location: Cain Center for the Arts – Main Campus Room: Classroom 115 Instructor: Gail Kolenda Description: Watercolor – Introduction through Advanced This class is for anyone who is interested in learning how to paint with watercolor and also for anyone with watercolor experience. It is designed for people who have never picked up a watercolor brush, for people who are returning to watercolor after many years away, or anyone that wants to continue learning new skills and techniques. The class is a 6 week, 2 1/2-hour weekly class. Beginners will learn about colors, papers and brushes. Each week we will build upon the lessons moving from color charts, to mixing, to techniques, to creating ones’ first watercolor picture. Advanced students will create paintings each week. Techniques will be reviewed and then you will be challenged to paint and experiment with new styles. Composition will be part of weekly discussions. At the end of each class the student will have at least one, if not more, projects to take home. Overview of Class Week 1: Set up palette. Create a Color Chart and do a Value study. Advanced – Create a painting using only one color Week 2: Test brushes. Make a color relationship chart. Paint 1st watercolor painting. Advanced – Paint an abstract with only 3 colors. Week 3: Techniques and tricks with watercolor. Create a quote picture. Advanced – Using texture techniques paint a landscape. Week 4: Study of shapes and shadows. Advanced – Paint a still life vignette Week 5: 2 paintings. Same subject. One with warm colors, one with cool colors. Advanced – Create a painting with only analogous colors. Week 6: Plan and create a complete watercolor picture using any/all skills learned. Both beginner and advanced students. Note: The items you complete in classes 1 through 5 will become your reference notebook about watercolor. Throughout the class color theory will be introduced and used. Abstract Art: Print, Paint, Mark Age: 17+ Day: Tuesday Dates: April 20 – May 25, 2027 Time: 2:00PM-4:00PM Location: Cain Center for the Arts – Main Campus Room: Classroom 115 Instructor: Kathy Murray Description: Have you ever wanted to let go of perfection and discover new ways to create exciting and expressive artwork? In this class we will explore the world of mono printing and mark making. Through a series of demonstrations and hands-on exercises, students will learn how to build layers, create textures, and develop unique compositions using printing techniques and a variety of tools and materials.Experiment with paints, inks, stencils, stamps, found objects, drawing tools, and collage elements to create unique prints and mixed media pieces. We will explore how different marks, patterns, lines, and textures can add movement and personality to your artwork. Some basic art “rules” will be discussed and then used, bent, or broken as you develop your own creative style.Each class will begin with a short demonstration, followed by plenty of time to experiment and create. Beginner Wheel Throwing Age: 16+ Day: Wednesday Dates: Jan 13 – Feb 17 Time: 6:30PM-9:00PM Location: Puckett Pottery House Room: Wheel Room Instructor: Jon Lang Description: This introductory wheel throwing class is designed for students with little to no experience on the pottery wheel. Instruction will be primarily focused on throwing and improving basic cylinders, which are the basis of all other forms on the wheel. Through the course, you will also learn about the lifecycle of wheel thrown pottery from bagged clay to finished, glazed pieces and the basic steps along the journey including wedging, throwing, trimming, and glazing through a combination of instructor demonstrations and one-on-one coaching. Class tuition includes: One 25 lb bag of clay Access to a variety of our studio glazes No costs to fire your work 3 complimentary open studio sessions while you are enrolled in the class. Beginner Wheel Throwing Age: 16+ Day: Tuesday Dates: March 2 – April 6 Time: 1:30PM-4:00PM Location: Puckett Pottery House Room: Wheel Room Instructor: Danielle Carelock Description: Beginning wheel throwing is the perfect class for anyone interested in learning the basic of pottery or anyone who wants to continue developing their skills. Students will be taught all of the fundamentals to working with clay in this hands-on class. Instruction will cover essential wheel-throwing techniques and learn how to create forms such as cups, bowls, and mugs. Students will be taught how to trim their work, add simple handles, and the process of glazing their final work. In addition to wheel work, the course will introduce basic studio practices, clay handling, tool use, and ceramic terminology. Students will gain an understanding of the complete pottery-making process, from wet clay to finished fired pieces. By the end of the class, students will have developed foundational wheel-throwing skills, increased confidence working with clay, and completed several functional ceramic pieces while building a strong base for future ceramics study.
