Intermediate/Advanced Wheel ThrowingCornelius Arts Center: Ceramic Studio  June 11 –  July 16, 2025Price: $180.00 Wednesdays, 6pm – 9pm   Instructor: Ken Lambdin    Pre-Requisites: Must be able to comfortably center and throw 5 lbs of clay   The goal of this class is to take a student with a fair amount of experience at the wheel, and elevate them to a level of greater skill in throwing and shaping pots.We will dissect the techniques of ‘centering’ and ‘pulling’ to make taller pots. We will focus on techniques for shaping pots with an eye for form and proportion. We will look at techniques for making lids and handles, with a goal to improve these complementary skills in making beautiful pots.   Please Note: No class Wednesday, June 18. This will be a project-based class with ideas and examples that will challenge and build your skills. We will focus on pinch, coil, and slab and begin applying ways of combining these to make more both functional and sculptural pieces.  We will explore not only hand building techniques but a variety of glaze and other surface design treatments.    Please note: There will be no class on Wednesday, June 25th.
