Description: Expand your wheel throwing skills in this intermediate-level workshop focused on creating closed forms on the pottery wheel. Designed for potters who are comfortable centering and pulling consistent walls, this session dives into the techniques required to enclose and shape forms such as jars, lidded vessels, and sculptural pieces. You’ll learn how to collar and close forms smoothly, control internal volume, and refine silhouettes without collapsing the structure. The workshop also covers strategies for trimming and altering closed pieces, as well as considerations for designing and fitting lids. Through demonstration and guided practice, you’ll gain the skills to move beyond basic forms and explore more complex, enclosed shapes. This class is ideal for potters looking to challenge their technique and expand their creative possibilities on the wheel.
