Valentine’s Day Workshop
Valentine’s Day WorkshopCornelius Art Center: Ceramic Studio Feb. 1, 2025 | 10AM – 1PM Price: $85.00 Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate love, and what better way to express that love than through creating something beautiful with your own hands? This workshop offers the perfect opportunity to explore creativity, learn techniques in hand building with clay, and make lasting memories. We will focus on creating one of a kind, heart-shaped clay pieces, from bowls, simple vases or decorative trinkets. Participants will learn the art of molding and shaping clay to form heart-centered designs. The pieces will feature delicate designs, such as stamping, underglaze transfer papers or engraved messages, adding a personal touch to each piece. We will fire your pieces and do the final glazing for you. During that time you can expect to create and finish 1-2 pieces. No experience is required as we will take you step by step through the process. It is a great opportunity to spend time in our studio and an introduction to ceramic arts. Gelli plates will be used in a simple way to create unique printed textural papers. We will also use other ways to create energetic colorful painted papers. The papers will then be cut and ripped and more paint and marks added to create energetic mixed media collages. Note: Gelli plate will not be used in every class. Each class will include a short lesson and demo about relevant art techniques before assisting the students with their projects. No previous weaving or art experience is needed.
