Valentine’s Day Ceramic Workshop

Workshop Description: In this workshop we will demonstrate two different ceramic techniques giving you options on which technique you would like to try. We will work with both flat hearts as well as demonstrating how to make a 3D heart by slipping and scoring each side together to create a “puffy heart”. Sgraffito: a form of decoration made by scratching or carving through a clay surface to reveal a lower layer of a contrasting color.  Slip Trailing is a process in ceramics created by squeezing lines of liquid porcelain clay to the heart shaped clay surface using a squeeze-bulb or tube applicator that we will supply.  Dots, swirls, etc. – kind of like cake decorating but a lot more fun. Ceramic/Pottery experience is not required.  We will take you through each step.  Clay and tools will be provided.  Once your piece(s) are finished, we will bisque fire them and them add a clear coat of shiny glaze to final fire them in our Glaze kiln.  Allow 10 – 14 days  for pick up.***Cornelius Residents will use RESCODE for Cornelius resident price.***
