This will be a project-based class with ideas and examples that will challenge and build your skills. We will focus on pinch, coil, and slab and begin applying ways of combining these to make more both functional and sculptural pieces.  We will explore not only hand building techniques but a variety of glaze and other surface design treatments. Mixed MediaCornelius Art Center: Studio C Apr. 15 – May 20, 2024Price: $175.00 Mondays, 10am – 12:30pm Instructor: Renee Calder Find new and exciting ways to treat and improve your ceramic pieces, get excited with endless possibilities and embrace the unexpected. This comprehensive course involves ceramic sculpture, found objects, assemblage, painting and the use of unconventional techniques. This class challenges the ceramic artist to think outside the box and find their own voice. With slips, stains, metal and glass we will explore new ideas and ways to use clay as a medium with other elements.This class welcomes experienced hand builders to participate as the basic fundamentals of working clay is required. Open Studio Package
Students who register for the Open Studio will have access for the entirety of the current class session. Students will have 3 options per week for open studios. See dates below. Students must check in at the front desk and sign off on their attended session. Students are only allowed to attend one session per week based on the “Open Studio Package”. Any additional sessions attended must be paid for separately- in person during the open studio time. Registration includes 6 open studio sessions, studio shelf and firing up to 25 pounds. Clay must be bought from the studio. Students are not allowed to bring in any “outside” clay to be fired in the facility kiln. Rock City WK 5 AM
Camp Name: Rock City Price: $250 Ages: 4-6 Kids learn about core musical concepts, like loud and soft, fast, and slow, and high and low notes. They get to explore different instruments, work on ear training, rhythms, and conclude the week with a bucket drum performance. Rock Band WK 2 PM
Camp Name: Rock BandPrice: $250 Age: 7+ Rock Band Camp is a great introductory course into the world of music, that allows students to learn, try, and perform with various instruments of their choosing, such as drums, piano, guitar, and singing! The campers will come up with a band name/logo and will be able to pick out a song of their choosing. Throughout the week they will practice their song, as well as learn some of the fundamentals of the instruments they are playing, and at the end of the week, they will perform what they learned for the parents! This camp is mainly to show our students the world of music, have fun, and get them pumped to want to learn more! By the end of the camp, each band will have the chance to perform on stage. Beat Making
Camp Name: Beat Making Price: $250 Ages: 8 + In this music production camp, campers learn how to make their own music using BandLab for Education. Students must bring their own computer (Mac or PC) with Google Chrome installed for this camp. In addition to a laptop, we ask that students bring headphones as well. Rock Band WK 3 PM
Camp Name: Rock BandPrice: $250 Age: 7+ Open to musicians of all skill levels, Rock Band Camps offer a fun and easy way for kids to join a band for the first time. During camp, bands will receive coaching from experienced musicians. We offer tips and instruction to individual students who want to build their skills. Our instructors are experienced musicians, including professional touring and studio artists. By the end of the camp, each band will have the chance to perform on stage.
