Intermediate participants will be introduced to the practices of fundamentals. Students are encouraged to work on areas of challenge in this class. Class time will be divided into studio/ painting time, individual assistance, and demonstration. Exercises will be given to help students in their experimentation process. All Level Wheel Throwing & Hand-Building

All Level Wheel Throwing and Hand building- Ceramic Studio  April 18th- May 23rd  Price: $175.00   Tuesday, 10am-12:30pm   Instructor: Renee Calder   In this class, we will focus on the basics of working in ceramics both learning how to throw in the wheel as well as hand building tips and techniques. This will be a project-based class with ideas and examples that will challenge and build your skills. Over the course of the session, you will gain experience using the wheel and also slab building to create both functional and sculptural pieces.  We will also explore a variety of glaze and other surface design treatments.   No Pre- Requisites ***Cornelius Residents will use RESCODE for Cornelius resident price.*** 

All Level Wheel Throwing

All Level Wheel Throwing: Ceramic Studio  April 17th – May 22nd  Price: $175.00  Mondays, 6:30pm – 9pm   Instructor: Keith Meyers  Perfect for beginning students or the more experienced ones, this is an all-level ceramics class that will focus on form, shaping and textural methods on the clay wheel. Learn how to add handles, and other ornamental designs to your pieces while also discovering new techniques through demonstrations and one-on-one instructions  No Pre-Requisites   ***Cornelius Residents will use RESCODE for Cornelius resident price.***  

Mixed Media

Mixed Media: Studio C April 17th- May 22ndPrice: $175.00    Mondays, 10am-12:30pm   Instructor: Renee Calder  Elevate your ceramics skills to the next level by incorporating paper, metal, wood and found objects into your clay forms and pieces. This creative class provides opportunities to experiment with new ideas and create with clay in unexpected ways. From wall pieces to sculptural forms, the sky’s the limit to what you can create.  Prerequisites: Beginner clay experience  ***Cornelius Residents will use RESCODE for Cornelius resident price.*** 

Glaze Workshop

This workshop will provide 25 test tiles for each student. We will discuss using glazes and layering test glazes on different clay bodies. Each student will be encouraged to use a color palette of their choice. *Any cone 5-cone 6 glazes that the students would like to test from their own supply can be utilized. Written records will be kept by each student. * Supplies needed: notebook and pen, small line brush for marking.  ***Cornelius Residents will use RESCODE for Cornelius resident price.*** 

Ceramic Workshop: Layered Hand-Built Clay Vessel

Using coil and slab construction you will be able to complete a small vessel or bowl during this session. We will combine both speckle brownstone clay with a dark brown clay and colorant’s/oxides to create a one-of-a-kind piece. This project is great for the beginner as well as the advanced hand builder. Note:  The workshop only includes the construction of the vessel but will provide detail and if needed materials to do final oxide washes once the work has been fired.Instructor: Renee Calder ***Cornelius Residents will use RESCODE for Cornelius resident price.***

Pre- Drawing and Composition for Future Painters  March 2-April 6 Price: $165.00   Thursday, 1:30pm-3:30pm  Instructor: Irene Jahns Basic preparation for painting classes/workshops in all mediums. Designed for those who have not actively been involved with their art skills, drawing and layout recently. Basic drawing skill development and layout/design techniques’-sketching objects, layouts, and plans for paintings. Acting for Teens 101

Acting for Teens 101  Feb. 27th- April 3rd.  Monday, 6pm- 7:15pm  Ages: 14-17 Price: $200.00   Instructor: Becky Timms Carlin  Want to star in your school play or just get better at public speaking?  Then this class is for you. This class is designed to help you to bring your acting skills to a new level and will teach you the skills and techniques of acting — the building blocks.  The course will consist of basic improvisation and theatre “games” and teach such skills as how to read a script and character analysis.  Students will work on scenes from famous plays as well as television and film scripts.  If you have always wanted to try an acting class but have been too intimidated, look no further. Visual Arts Painters Studio

Visual Arts Painters StudioMarch 2nd- April 6th   Price: $195.00  Thursday, 10am- 2pm.  (4 Week)   Instructor: Janet Visser   This is an intermediate and advanced course that encourages experimental approaches to painting through historical and contemporary study.  Students creatively explore issues of color, surface and composition and are encouraged to begin exploration of individualized concerns that can be addressed through image making.
