PRESENTED BY ADA JENKINS CENTER IN COLLABORATION WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS
“Sentenced”, documentary film by Stephen & Ayesha Curry: Rewrite Futures Through Reading-A Call To Action for Childhood Literacy by Ada Jenkins Center
Join us on Friday, July 25th at 6:00PM for this special free event, offered in collaboration between Ada Jenkins Center, Eat.Learn.Play., Children’s Literacy Project, and Cain Center for the Arts.
The documentary delves into the personal and harsh realities of intergenerational illiteracy, showcasing the impact on families and communities. It features stories told by those who never learned how to read. The documentary aims to raise awareness about the issue of childhood illiteracy and its impact on children and families. The event will offer a way for viewers to get involved in addressing this problem locally through Ada Jenkins Center’s LEARN Works Program.
A reception with hors d’oeuvres and the opportunity to connect with LEARN Works representatives will be held right after the viewing of the documentary.
Note: Due to mature content, this event is not suitable for children. Supervised activities for K–5th grade students will be available through LEARN Works at the Cain Center for the Arts. Registration is required and space is limited. Please register now to secure a spot for your child!
