This exhibit focuses on the polarity of black and white as color and tone, encouraging the audience to look beyond the color of art and focus on the concept the artist intended to convey. Artists are free to express themselves in a color-restricted format, providing a thoughtful understanding of balance.
Opposites Attract… Attracting Opposites simultaneously encourages audiences to see the depth in each piece, allowing them to appreciate what a typical color-derived work of art looks like and how it could make one feel.
- We encourage artists of all and any mediums to submit up to 2 pieces of work.
- Each piece must be 80% Black or White, or both!
- Color is acceptable as an accent, but only at a level of up to 10-20% of the piece.
- Large 2D works are accepted up to 36 in by 40 in.
- No size restrictions on 3D work.
- All pieces are subject to approval before submission.
