GIFTS OF STOCK

Step 1 – Initiate the Stock Transfer

Gifts of Stock may be gifted to the Cain Center for the Arts via electronic transfer. You will ask your broker to transfer shares using the Cain Center for the Arts DTC number.

Step 2 – Send the Securities to the Cain Center for the Arts

Ask your broker to donate through Morgan Stanley

If you need a letter to execute the stock transfer, please ask for a sample letter from staff.

DONOR ADVISED FUND

Step 1 – Check to see if your Charitable Sponsoring Organization has previously issued gift payment to the Cain Center for the Arts*.

A donor can utilize their Donor Advised Fund (DAF) to execute a donation to the Cain Center for the Arts. The Charitable Sponsoring Organization may need to add the Cain Center for the Arts into its system. Use Tax ID # 81-4628087 to search for Cain Center for the Arts*.

Step 2 – Send the donation from the Donor Advised Fund to the Cain Center for the Arts.

Ask the manager of your Donor Advised Fund to issue payment to the Cain Center for the Arts.

Step 3 – Notify the Cain Center for the Arts

Please notify Anita Overcash or Rodger Clark of Cain Center for the Arts about your gift through a Donor Advised Fund. They can be reached at aovercash@cainarts.org or 980-689-4645; and rclark@cainarts.org or 980-689-4643.

* Please note that the Cain Center for the Arts is legally known as the Cornelius Arts Community Center Inc. For the purposes of making a gift the name could be listed as

CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTION FROM AN IRA

As an IRS registered non-profit entity, Cain Center for the Arts is able to accept gifts directly from individual retirement accounts (IRAs) as permitted by Sec. 408(d)(8) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended in 2015.

You should request that your plan administrator mail your charitable distribution to the following address:

NOTE: Your IRA administrator may have an available form for your use in such requests.

IRS GUIDELINES FOR IRA CHARITABLE ROLLOVERS

  • You must be at least 70 ½ years of age
  • You may distribute up to $100,000 – which will count toward any required minimum distribution
  • Charitable distributions must be made directly from your IRA trustee/administrator to the qualifying charity
  • Distributions must be outright gifts – no material benefits can be received by the donor in exchange for their donation
  • IRA charitable rollover gifts may not be used to create income-producing vehicles (e.g., Charitable trusts/Gift annuities)
  • Only gifts from an IRA are included in this legislation – gifts from 401(k), 403(b) or 457 plans are not permitted
  • Checks should be made out to: Cain Center for the Arts
  • Cain Center for the Arts is a 501(c)(3) organization – legal name Cornelius Arts Community Center, Inc. and the EIN/Tax ID# is 81-4628087.
