Sons of Serendip

Lobby Open: 6:30 PM Through serendipity, four talented friends from graduate school found themselves together on America’s Got Talent in 2014 where they wowed audiences and judges alike. Their rich combination of gorgeous vocals accompanied by harp, cello, and piano struck an immediate chord with listeners and now comprise the head-turning and inspiring sound of their band, Sons of Serendip. The Boston Globe aptly describes them as “A classical-jazz-pop-R&B-gospel fusion quartet whose bread and butter is interpreting songs that move you – from Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ to Bonnie Raitt’s ‘I can’t Make You Love Me.” The Sons’ stunning vocals and soulful interpretations of popular works touch the heart
Christian Sands

Lobby Open: 6:30 PM “…having successfully made the case for his breadth of style, Sands is free to follow his music where it leads.” – NPR “…Christian Sands plays with a restrained touch and a rolling command across the entire keyboard.” – The New York Times “Sands is skilled, soulful and melodic…” – VICE Noisey Grammy Nominee Christian Sands is an emerging jazz force. His abundant piano technique perfectly matches his conception, accomplishing a much deeper musical goal: a fresh look at the entire language of jazz. Christian says, “My music is about teaching the way of jazz and keeping it alive.” Whether it’s stride, swing, bebop, progressive, fusion, Brazilian or Afro-Cuban, Sands develops the past while providing unusual and stimulating vehicles for the present… and for the future. He expresses himself through an extensive vocabulary of patterns, textures and structures, all the while maintaining a strong sense of understatement, sensitivity, taste and swing — hallmarks for as long as he has been playing.
