Travel Coffee Cups  Age: 16+ Day: Saturday Date: June 20, 2026 Time: 11AM-1PM Location: Puckett Pottery House Room: Hand Building Instructor: Taylor Stone   Description: This ceramics workshop offers a comprehensive and immersive studio experience designed for students looking to deepen their skills and creative practice. Participants will receive guided instruction during a one time studio class  while working with high‑quality materials in a fully equipped ceramic studio.   Tuition includes all clay, glazes, and all bisque and glaze firings, allowing students to focus fully on the creative process without additional material or firing fees.   To further support experimentation and skill development, enrollment also includes one complimentary Open Studio session, giving students dedicated, self‑guided time to practice techniques, explore personal projects, and gain greater familiarity with the studio environment outside of class hours.   Whether you are building foundational skills or refining your craft, this class provides structured instruction, generous studio access, and a supportive creative space to help you grow confidently as a ceramic artist.

Throwing Closed Forms on the Potters Wheel Age: 16+ Day: Wednesday Date: August 12 Time: 6PM – 9PM Location: Puckett Pottery House Room: Wheel Throwing Instructor: Jon Lang   Description: Expand your wheel throwing skills in this intermediate-level workshop focused on creating closed forms on the pottery wheel. Designed for potters who are comfortable centering and pulling consistent walls, this session dives into the techniques required to enclose and shape forms such as jars, lidded vessels, and sculptural pieces. You’ll learn how to collar and close forms smoothly, control internal volume, and refine silhouettes without collapsing the structure. The workshop also covers strategies for trimming and altering closed pieces, as well as considerations for designing and fitting lids. Through demonstration and guided practice, you’ll gain the skills to move beyond basic forms and explore more complex, enclosed shapes. Designed for those comfortable centering and throwing basic shapes, this class explores how to elevate your work by altering and assembling pieces after they come off the wheel. You’ll learn techniques for pulling and attaching handles, crafting functional spouts, designing and fitting lids, and carving into leather-hard surfaces to add texture and visual depth. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, you’ll develop a stronger sense of timing, structure, and design as well as an understanding of when and how to modify forms without compromising their integrity. The series encourages experimentation and personal style, helping you move beyond simple vessels into more complex, expressive pieces. You’ll be able to work on building larger forms and more advanced techniques through coil building, slab building, and pinching methods. This open studio time allows you to work independently, but with the hands on support of the staff to continue learning new skills. This time will allow you to experiment and build your creativity in exploring advanced forms. It is a great opportunity to work on bringing more complex ideas to life. Ideal for those with previous hand building experience and who are comfortable working independently and want to grow their knowledge and express their creativity through their personal touch.
