Modifying Wheel-Thrown Pottery Skills Workshop Age: 16+ Day: Wednesday Date: July 17 Time: 6PM – 9PM Location: Puckett Pottery House Room: Wheel Throwing Instructor: Jon Lang Description: Take your wheel throwing skills to the next level in this immersive, one‑day intermediate pottery workshop focused on transforming thrown forms through thoughtful modification and surface refinement. Designed for potters who are comfortable centering clay and throwing basic shapes, this workshop emphasizes moving beyond simple vessels into more complex, intentional, and expressive work. Participants will explore post‑wheel techniques such as pulling and attaching handles, creating functional spouts, designing and fitting lids, and carving into leather‑hard clay to add texture and visual depth. Through expert-led demonstrations and hands-on practice, students will build a stronger understanding of timing, structure, and design, learning when and how to alter forms without compromising balance or integrity. This workshop is an investment which includes professional instruction, full access to a fully equipped ceramic studio, and all firings and glazes—ensuring a complete, uninterrupted making experience with no hidden costs. Each participant will also receive a 25‑lb bag of clay, providing ample material to experiment, practice, and produce finished work during the session.
