Carving Jack-o’-Lanterns Age: 7+ Day: Saturday Dates: October 17th Time: 1:00PM-3:00PM Location: Puckett Pottery House Room: Hand Building Instructor: Ceramic Staff   Description: Get into the Halloween spirit by making a jack-o’-lantern that lasts all season long. In this beginner-friendly workshop, you get to choose a premade clay pumpkin to carve. Tools, stencils, and stamps are provided for you to decorate your jack-o’-lantern.  Students can use vibrant stroke and coat glazes to paint and decorate their pumpkins or a selection of studio glazes.   Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Intermediate Wheel Throwing Age: 16+ Day: Tuesday Dates: Oct 27 – Dec 8 Time: 6:00PM – 8:00PM Location: Puckett Pottery House Room: Wheel Room Instructor: Jon Lang   Description: This intermediate wheel throwing ceramics class is designed for students who are comfortable centering clay and creating basic forms such as bowls and cylinders. Building on foundational skills, students will refine their technique while exploring more complex wheel-thrown forms and decorative approaches.Students will focus on improving consistency, control, and craftsmanship through projects that may include larger vessels, matching sets, plates, pitchers, and lidded forms. Instruction will cover advanced trimming, altering forms, assembling multipart pieces, and attaching handles and spouts.The course will also introduce surface decoration techniques such as carving, texture, slip application, and glazing considerations. Photographic Image Transfer on Clay: From Image to Ceramic Surface Age: 16+ Day: Wednesday Dates: Oct 28 – Dec 9 Time: 1:30PM – 3:30PM Location: Puckett Pottery House Room: Hand Building Instructor: Maria Lukashenok   Description: This multi-week course explores photographic image transfer techniques on clay, combining ceramics, photography, and printmaking. Students will learn how to prepare digital images, mix ink, transfer photographic imagery onto clay surfaces, and incorporate image-based storytelling into ceramic work.Through demonstrations and hands-on projects, participants will explore various transfer methods, surface treatments, glazing considerations, and firing processes. Students will learn the fundamentals of creating pottery on the potter’s wheel in a supportive, hands-on environment.   Instruction will cover essential wheel-throwing techniques, including preparing clay, centering, opening, pulling walls, and shaping basic forms such as bowls and cylinders. Students will also learn how to trim their pieces, attach simple handles, and prepare work for glazing and firing.   In addition to wheel work, the course will introduce basic studio practices, clay handling, tool use, and ceramic terminology.
