Holiday Ornament Workshop Age: 16+ Day: Saturday Dates: November 21 Time: 1:00PM-3:00PM Location: Puckett Pottery House Room: Hand Building Instructor: Ceramic Staff Description: Get into the holiday spirit and make custom ceramic ornaments. In this beginner-friendly workshop, students will learn hand-building techniques using clay cutters and stamps to create unique ornament shapes. Students can use colored slips or stroke and coat glaze to decorate their creations. These personalized keepsakes make for perfect gifts or Christmas decorations. Clay will be provided. Beginner Pottery Wheel Workshop Age: 16+ Day: Friday Dates: December 4 Time: 6:00PM-8:00PM Location: Puckett Pottery House Room: Wheel Room Instructor: Maria Lukashenok Description: Interested in clay, but don’t want to sign up for a multi-week class yet? Join us for a beginner friendly wheel workshop! An instructor will walk you through the basic steps of learning how to throw on a wheel in this 2 hour workshop. No experience needed, just a creative open mind to learn a new skill. Come on your own, with family or friends, or for a date night! Each participant must purchase a ticket. You will be able to choose one piece to be fired at the end of class and then select what color glaze your piece will be from a choice of options provided by the studio. Our staff will glaze and fire your work so you can focus on having fun throwing. No supplies needed for the workshop, we will provide you with the tools to learn. Mold Making for Slip Casting
Mold Making for Slip Casting Age: 16+ Day: Monday Dates: Oct 26 – Dec 7 Time: 10:00AM-12:30PM Location: Puckett Pottery House Room: Hand Building Instructor: Lily Kuntz Description: Learn the basics of plaster mold making and slip casting in this introductory class. Students will learn how to create a one or two part mold from their choice of a found object or their own forms created from clay. This class will introduce the steps to prepare forms for mold making, how to safely mix and pour plaster, and the process of clip casting to create replicable ceramic objects. By the end of the class students will bring home one plaster mold, a fired slip cast ceramic form, and the skills to continue making slip cast forms. Students should have previous experience working with clay, but do not need any past experience with plaster to take this class. Students can bring in an object to make a mold of and the instructor will assess if it a suitable object.Studio will provide all tools for mold making (Plaster, casting slip, cottle boards, sculpting tools, masks). Beginner Wheel Throwing Age: 16+ Day: Tuesday Dates: Oct 27 – Dec 8 Time: 10:00AM-12:30PM Location: Puckett Pottery House Room: Wheel Room Instructor: Danielle Carelock Description: This introductory wheel throwing ceramics class is designed for beginners with little or no prior experience working with clay. Students will learn the fundamentals of creating pottery on the potter’s wheel in a supportive, hands-on environment.Instruction will cover essential wheel-throwing techniques, including preparing clay, centering, opening, pulling walls, and shaping basic forms such as bowls and cylinders. Students will also learn how to trim their pieces, attach simple handles, and prepare work for glazing and firing.In addition to wheel work, the course will introduce basic studio practices, clay handling, tool use, and ceramic terminology. Students will gain an understanding of the complete pottery-making process, from wet clay to finished fired pieces.By the end of the class, students will have developed foundational wheel-throwing skills, increased confidence working with clay, and completed several functional ceramic pieces while building a strong base for future ceramics study.
