ANNOUNCING A NEW PARTNERSHIP
Cain Center for the Arts is thrilled to announce a new partnership with local theater powerhouse Davidson Community Players. Beginning July 2024, Davidson Community Players (DCP) will begin a 2-year resident company partnership with Cain Center for the Arts. The hallmark feature of the residency will be 8 total productions over 2 years. These will be a mix of youth and adult shows, with a possibility of adding special events a la carte.
Several productions are already lined up; DCP’s youth-oriented Connie Company will present Footloose and Matilda, Jr. this year and Finding Nemo, Jr. early in 2025. DCP’s adult main stage will conclude its 2024 season with Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley from December 5 – 15.
DCP Executive Director Steve Kaliski says, “It makes all the sense in the world for DCP and Cain to be permanent partners. We are content producers, and they are content presenters. Together, we can create a visible, accessible forum where audiences from across the Charlotte region can see how vital theatre culture is in Lake Norman.”
Cain Center’s Executive Director Justin Dionne notes, “Cain Center for the Arts was conceptualized as a place for the Lake Norman/North Mecklenburg Region to come together and enjoy the magic and power of the arts. We are more than excited to add the high quality, locally produced programs of DCP as a permanent part of that. Collaborations like this build upon foundational bedrock of the arts & culture scene renaissance here.”
